I'm from Ukraine, so my story will be in English. But this is not difficult to translate it via Google.
But this is goo
Finally I've broken down this fantastic map! And I have to add my 0,05$ too :)
ATTENTION! MANY-MANY SPOILERS and ADVICES!!! Please go away from this post if you are not looking for spoilers!
1. As for me this is not fully unique map. The same strategy/difficulties I've seen at least on 2 maps:
- Abelia (by Grigor Minchev)
and First Blood by Shooo http://www.maps4heroes.com/forum/opinions.php?map_id=326&game=3
The situation is similar: you should collect small forces and move out from your resp.
At the same time your opponents have better magic (like town portal or DD), or too much castles (and you not! :) and of course they attack you from one-way teleports :)
So if someone would like to taste something crazy like Limes Inferior, just try both above mentioned maps. Anyway a tons of thanks to author for this brilliant map!
By the way I didn’t find Limes Inferior at maps4heroes.com Dear author, you should add it for all players!
2. I've played at 130% and finished at 12-4-3, but this is because I waited for strong forces to assault final boss and his anti magic garrison. Guess it’s possible to finish on month 9 or 10, but this is not important.
I’ve took 10 gorgons for easy start and caught good starting save. I mean at 3-rd and 4-th slot of Ser Dziadol I had logistic and path finding. So at the beginning I had good speed without artifacts.
There are skills of Ser Dziadol: armor (from the start), offence (very recommended), logistic + path finding (both are compulsory!). And also: leadership, artillery, ballistic, tactic (recommended). As for me leadership will be used only in few final battles, also artillery and ballistic are unnecessary. I’d like to receive resistance to magic and shooting, they are very useful, but I didn’t know about this at the start.
Strategy was fully described by Sigelhearwan 27.03.2008.
As usual I play at 200% all maps. At this map it was 130%, so I didn’t meet troubles with AI moving management. This is main part of the game: to foresee possible actions / directions from AI and management / corrections it to the right way! As was said “speed is a key for victory”, but management/planning and knowledge of AI behavior is more important! Just trust me!
IMHO main problem for you during a game is that you can’t learn any school of magic and pass all battles with mass slow-haste / resurrection / blind etc. All you can it use you strategy and Tazar’s skill! :) So you DON’T NEED wisdom anyway!
Of course it got many saves (900 at least) / reloads. Some weeks were replayed to get the game faster.
1/3/5 – I’ve took 2-n castle Prawa Dziupla
2/1/5 – the first visits at the same time of blue and red opponents. First battle with Cipeska, lost some forces due to her magic.
2/2/1 – battle against red (Chujasek) and his magic.
2/3/1 – captured blue garrison,
2/3/6 – captured 1-st blue castle Didfall
2/4/3 – blue opponent killed.
3/1/6 - captured red garrison,
3/3/2 – red opponent killed.
4/1/4 – mass “training” of secondary heroes on elementals. At your start resp you have one-way brown teleport which are protected by elementals. As soon as you have enough forces you can kill them by your secondary heroes. Before it check by NWCNEO who will catch logistic + path finding. As a result I have 2 heroes with logistic + path finding and one with logistic. Not bad!
4/2/1 – collection of artifacts on my location
4/2/4 – meeting and killing of orange heroes, I’ve took their artifacts. Start of the “pit-embargo” against orange :)
5/1/2 – way to home location
5/2/3 – meeting with green heroes, first battles,
5/3/5 - meeting with grey heroes, hard battles,
Since that moment my strategy was “inviting” of opponents (by sacrifice or by imitation that my main hero has only 7 dragonflies and all other forces with someone else in the castle). There are ancient tricks :) So till the 9/1/1 I’ve just collected my forces and killed opponents. Maybe this is wasting time, but I didn’t want to replay it.
9/1/4 - captured first anti-magic garrison on the south-west. It’s possible to take it earlier of course.
9/2/3 – captured all nerco villages, killing of purple heroes (it’s possible to “invite” them out of castle and kill with only high speed units, because implosion spell is unpleasant. As soon as purple doesn’t have forces just block him in front of main anti-magic garrison.
At this time you should leave some forces and heroes with logistic and path finding near Lewa Dziupla and Prawa Dziupla and keep on guerilla war from the white gates.
10/2/3 – returning to my start location. I’ve captured all north-east castles and start location.
VERY USEFUL tactic is to kick out of ALL GREY (3 in fact!) heroes and part of green heroes to north-west location. Grey opponent doesn’t have tavern! So if he has arrived with small forces he can’t recruit forces from his 12 castles! Very good trap! All grey heroes will run away to Slau and Rockwarren! You shouldn’t kill them or they will back with much more forces!
ORANGE heroes are still blocked by one of my secondary hero with big army.
And time by time you should kill GREEN heroes from dungeon. He HAS tavern, and it’s impossible to block all of his heroes. But this is trifle.
So 10+11+12 months I’ve collected all forces from nerco cities, all fortress cities and from one stronghold. Also I’ve picked up all hidden event during these months.
12/1/1 – ALL forces move to Necro City.
12/3/1 – anti magic garrison. It were 2 battles (1-st with “garbage” forces like gnolls and goblins to reduce the garrison, and the 2-nd with main forces against vampires only).
12/3/7 and 12/4/3 – also 2 phases of fight: 1-st with main forces (334 Ghost Dragons and 621 Thunderbirds are main forces, and very important was to take 728 of dragonflies. Why? You’ll see.
Sorry one more time for spoilers! And for this poor English!
I will send final save to author. Best wishes for all!
